I am so excited to start another year here at Ira Elementary! My name is Candice Poole and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. To have a place of growing knowledge and acceptance is what I want for my classroom. I would hope that we will be able to work towards a successful year together.
Growing up I moved around a lot but the place I graduated high school is the place I call home, Tarzan Texas. I graduated from Grady ISD a small six man school just like Ira! I had 13 in my graduating class. After graduation I moved to Lubbock and attended Texas Tech University where I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education grades Pre-K-8th Grade. I have a wonderful husband Tanner and two amazing daughters; Jaylee and Jozee.
I taught Pre-K for 3 years in Lubbock before moving to Ira. The first year we were here I worked at Western Texas College in the Student Support Services office. I loved my college kids but I missed the classroom! I was the RTI teacher my first year here at Ira and I was blessed to teach 4th grade for 4 years. This will be my 11th year of teaching and my second year in Kindergarten!
Teaching has always been a passion for me. I have a love for learning and I would hope that my students would also learn to love learning as much as I do. By making my classroom a safe, fun and disciplined place for my students, I hope they will enjoy coming to my class and learning something new every day. I feel that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. An educator who loves each child that walks in her door and gives each of them not only an education but a passion to learn, is what I will strive to do for each of my students.
This year will definitely be a fun year, but as in every school year things can and will come up. I believe that a successful year starts with an open communication line between parents and teachers. Please feel free to call or email cpoole@ira.esc14.net me anytime you have any concerns. My conference time is 11:30-12:20 Monday-Wednesday and 11:30-12:10 Thursdays and Fridays. Also with an emails sent, please allow me until the end of the school day to respond. Kindergarten is a busy year and I will not have much time to look through emails until the end of the day.
