The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is pleased to announce this year’s school safety contest for youth – Art in Action: Imagining Safe Schools for All. The contest invites middle school and high school students to submit original artwork that highlights their perspectives of safety in school.

Whether it's through the lens of safety, kindness, diversity, or accessibility, TxSSC wants to see how Texas youth envision a safe and healthy school environment. Whether it’s a poster, drawing, graphic design, etc. students can submit their artwork answering any of the prompts below.

Contest Prompts:

What is the biggest problem you and/or your peers experience at school?
What does a safe school look like to you?
What does your safe place from stress and worries look like?

The top entries from each prompt will be selected to be featured as part of an art exhibit at the 2025 Texas School Safety Conference in June. Pictures of the artwork will also be posted on the School Safety Teen Ambassadors website. Winners will receive a signed letter and certificate from the director of the Texas School Safety Center as well as the foamboard version of their submission to be displayed at their school.

Submissions selected for the exhibit will include the student’s first name, grade, city, title of artwork, and description. Students will be notified if their artwork is selected.

The contest ends Sunday, May 25.
